Position Title: Preparedness, Health and Safety Volunteer Instructor
Purpose: The Volunteer Instructor's primary responsibility is to instruct American Red Cross Health and Safety courses. This position is responsible for providing high quality, superior instruction, providing necessary reports and managing/cleaning equipment in their possession or under their delegated responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Willingness to support the Red Cross mission
- Teaches Red Cross Health and Safety courses within their current certifications to businesses and to the community
- Manages all equipment and supplies to a prescribed location and cleaning after each assignment
- Communicates availability through a web-based scheduling system and with the Training Scheduler any volunteer assignments
- Utilize all web-based support systems
- Must arrive to teaching site at least 30 minutes before class start time
- Submit course records, feedback and evaluations according to American Red Cross standards.
- Promote and represent Red Cross services and opportunities
- Follows American Red Cross Instructional support systems and manuals
Time Commitment: Once a quarter or four times a year, depending on seasonal needs. Flexible schedule available. Instructor's are needed daytime, evenings or weekend.
Qualifications:
- Enthusiastic about American Red Cross programs
- Current instructor and basic certification in the program area assigned to instruct
- Ability to teach effectively in a dynamic learning environment
- Ability to lift and transport equipment associated with the course preferred
- Ability to have adequate transportation to and from the work site
- Access to a computer with Internet connection and basic computer literacy, ability to use online, web-based technology to submit teaching availability and course related training documents
- Access to phone, Internet and ability to communicate through email
- Successfully complete the American Red Cross Instructor mentoring process
- Ability to work with remote supervision
Training:
- Orientation to American Red Cross
- Successful completion of volunteer instructor training program
- Periodic training updates as required
