Our Home Transitional: Female Veteran Transitional Housing 

Our Home Transitional consists of a diverse team leading the way in offering transitional housing for single female veterans coming back from war, or serving our country in any capacity. Our program offer governmental and social organizational help, including but not limited to: In The Grove, VA, VetBiz Central, LearnKey Veterans Services, Workforce Development Vet’s Division, Land Bank, SVMAP and Cars4vets. The advisory board currently consists of a CPA, Insurance Agent, Restoration Company, Attorney, Financial Advisor, and a Realtor. 

We have started 2 pilot programs with a couple of our first clients! One has moved into her new home http://eepurl.com/yZon9 (her story) provided by one of our partnering organizations, SV MAP. 

All donations to the General Fund http://www.ourhometransitional.org/apps/donations/ go towards these pilot programs. 

Our Home Transitional offers a family environment. We bring a sense of comfort, belonging and stability by offering our clients household jobs and chores as a family unit. While in our program, resident clients will be provided various types of assistance through partnering organizations to transition to civilian life and self- sufficiency. One of our goals with SVMAP is to acquire several other homes to provide a haven for our clients, while at the same time, revitalizing and beautifying the City of Flint. These homes will require major renovation as most of the empty homes in Flint have been stripped. We will work with DE Recycling as well as dozens of local residence ready to volunteer! 

Most importantly, we are in need of funding to bring our dream to fruition. Due to the sequestration cuts of 2013, there were no government funds available for new veteran organizations for 2013. And as of 2014 there are few grants available for transitional housing. There are no transitional housing centers in Genesee County for female veterans, with or without children. There are over 150 homeless, or soon to be homeless, female veterans in our surrounding area of Michigan. It is imperative that Our Home Transitional is up and running immediately, as our women veterans will be coming home soon. 

Help us give these women a place to call their own.

Our program will also offer all the governmental and social organizational help needed for this endeavor, including but not limited to; In The Grove, VA, VetBiz Central, LearnKey Veterans Services, Workforce Development Vet’s Division, Land Bank, SVMAP and Cars4vets. We also have an advisory committee that currently consists of a CPA, Insurance Agent, Restoration Co, Attorney, Financial Advisor and a Realtor.

While in Our Home Transitional, they will be provided various types of assistance to transition to civilian life and self- sufficiency. As OHT is up and running successfully, we will be acquiring several other homes to provide a haven for our family. This is also an opportunity to revitalize and beautify the City of Flint as we plan on acquiring several abandoned or foreclosed homes in the Genesee County, MI; city and rural. These will be acquired within the coming months. They will need to be renovated to a huge degree as most of these empty homes in Flint have been stripped and we have DE Recycling for that as well as dozens of local residence ready to volunteer!

Foremost, we are in need of funding to bring this dream to fruition. There are no transitional housing centers in Genesee Co for females veterans only; with or without children and there are over 150 homeless or about to be homeless female veterans in our surrounding area of MI . It is imperative to get this process in motion and have Our Home Transitional up and running ASAP as our women will be coming home in droves very soon.
